M1 Pastor Search Committee Update 08/20/2023

Pastor Search Committee Update – August 20, 2023

Dear Church Family,
Our committee comes to you this month to share how God is working as He leads us in finding the new shepherd for M1BC.
We completed all of the in-depth interviews with several candidates, have reviewed and researched their sermons and churches’ mission in their communities.  We wanted to learn these things about them.
• Would his bold, sound preaching inspire our church family and guests to pursue Christ Jesus in a deeper way?
• Would he be a good, humble leader for our staff and their families?
• Would he love our church family and shepherd us well?
• Would he be a strong leader and provide vision for our community and us?
• Would he be a good fit for M1BC?

We continue to review candidates and resumes and wait on the Lord.  He is shaping us and molding us week by week.  We definitely have grown together as a team and have learned some important things. We have learned these timeless principles through our process.
God is Faithful.  He has chosen a shepherd for our church and will bring him to us in His timing.
“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.”  Colossians 1:17-18
God is sovereign.  We know His plans are the very best, not ours.  And His purpose will prevail.
“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28
God is our guide.  The Holy Spirit powerfully directs us and unifies us through prayer.
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”  Romans 8:26
Recently, God has called our team to pray and fast on Mondays before we meet on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Our purpose and our desire is to press into God with more focus and intentionality with our bodies, souls, spirits, and minds so we can hear His voice clearly.
We ask that you join us in this desire to press into God more.  If possible and your health permits, will you fast and pray on Mondays with us?  In addition, will you set an alarm on your phone at 6:30 p.m. each Monday to remind you to pray for us as we meet together?  We humbly ask you to join us as we seek to hear from the Lord.
Some of our petitions we ask you to pray with us are….

  • For Our New Senior Pastor:
For Him to know he has been called to our church by the Spirit of God
  • For God to be preparing him and his family for the move to M1BC
  • For his heart to be prepared to lead our church with passion for the Word of God and the wisdom to lead us
  • For God to give him an agape love for our church family, our community, and the unsaved and unchurched here

  • For Our Staff:
That God energize them to keep their faithful service and know how much our church family loves them
  • For Pastor Roger Yancey as he serves us so well with multiple responsibilities elsewhere
  • For strength, endurance, guidance, unity, peace, abundant joy, and hope as they wait for the Lord to provide a new Senior Pastor.
  • That they be filled with the fruit of the Spirit in their day-to-day ministries
  • That they continue reaching our community for Christ

  • For Our Church Family:
To place our trust in the Lord through this process and wait on Him
  • For unity of the body of Christ
  • That God will draw people to our church so we can love on them, hear their hurts and their hearts, share the Good News with them, and then walk with them in their journey
  • For God to continue to work in our church as He has over the past few months
  • For us to have a renewed sense of purpose

  • For the Pastor Search Committee
That the Spirit of God fills us with wisdom, insight, and guidance to know and discern the will of God for our next Senior Pastor
  • For unity, strength, a kingdom perspective, and to know the Word is taught accurately as we hear sermons and pastors teach
  • That we focus on each step of the process, that we are obedient in each step, and that our eyes will be on Jesus, not on the end of this process

Will you save this email and pray for these things with us on Mondays?  You can also visit the Pastoral Search page on our website at m1bc.org.  As God gives insight to you, we ask you to share what He is showing you with our team.  Please send an email to pastorsearch@m1bc.org, and it will come to all of us.
We are thankful for each of you as we walk this journey together.  May God continue to bless our church family, staff, and our new Senior Pastor.
May God bless you today,
Shirley Jensen
